Cold Bones Fest is designed to be simple, accessible, and easy to navigate. With all venues located in and around downtown Drumheller, the festival is primarily a walkable experience — no long drives, confusing routes, or complicated transit plans. Just bundle up, grab your wristband, and wander from show to show.
One of the best parts of Cold Bones Fest is how compact it is. Most venues are only a couple of blocks from each other, making it easy to:
– Catch parts of multiple sets in one night
– Explore different genres and atmospheres
– Take breaks for food, drinks, and warm-ups
– Move between venues safely and comfortably
Whether you’re heading from the Legion to Heller Good or from the Distillery to the Napier, you’re never far from the action.
February in the Badlands can be crisp, cold, windy — or all three. Be prepared for short outdoor stretches between venues.
Tips for staying comfortable:
– Layer up (base layer + warm sweater + winter jacket)
– Wear warm boots with decent grip
– Bring gloves, a toque, and something to cover your face if it’s windy
A little preparation goes a long way toward making your venue-hopping cozy and fun.
While walking is the easiest way to get around, here are a few other notes:
– Parking: There is free parking throughout downtown Drumheller.
– Rideshares: Drumheller does not have formal rideshare services.
– Taxi Services: A limited number of local taxi companies operate in town — wait times may vary.
– Designated Driving: Please plan a safe ride if you’re drinking.
Most festivalgoers park once for the night and enjoy the downtown on foot.
If you have accessibility needs related to mobility or transportation during the festival, please reach out. We’re committed to helping all attendees access our venues safely and comfortably whenever possible.
Legion: There are multiple stairs to access the main stage. There is a lift available both up and downstairs – a Legion volunteer will be able to assist with this. Gender neutral washroom located upstairs by the pool tables.
Heller Good: there are two small steps to get into the building. Two gender neutral washrooms.
Distillery: there are no steps to enter the space and all washrooms are single stall and gender neutral, located on the main floor with easy access.
IThe joy of Cold Bones Fest comes from discovering something new — a band, a venue, a crowd, or a quirky dinosaur statue lit up on a winter night. Take your time, walk the downtown, and let the festival unfold around you.
Cold Bones Fest respectfully acknowledges that we are on Treaty 7 territory, the ancestral and traditional territory of the Blackfoot Confederacy: Kainai, Piikani, and Siksika, as well as the Tsuut’ina First Nation and the Stoney Nakoda First Nation. We recognize the land as an act of reconciliation and gratitude to those on whose territory we reside.
